The Sacraments

Tap any sacrament below to learn more, or contact the parish office to start the conversation — Michelle Fraser, our Sacrament Coordinator, is happy to help.

Baptism

Baptism welcomes a child — or an adult — into the life of the Church. We ask parents to attend a short preparation session beforehand; godparents are an important part of the celebration too. Contact the parish office to arrange a date and preparation session.

First Reconciliation & First Communion

Children typically prepare for First Reconciliation and First Communion in grade two, through a parish-based program that involves both the child and their family. Registration opens each fall — see the Bulletin for dates, or reach out to our Sacrament Coordinator.

Confirmation

Confirmation completes the sacraments of initiation, strengthening young people in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Our parish runs a Confirmation preparation program for youth, with sponsors and small-group sessions along the way. Contact the office for the current schedule.

Becoming Catholic (RCIA)

If you're an adult exploring the Catholic faith, or already baptized in another Christian tradition and interested in full communion, our RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) process walks you through it — at your pace, with a sponsor alongside you. New inquirers are welcome any time of year.

Marriage

Congratulations! Please contact the parish office at least six months before your planned date — the Diocese requires a marriage preparation course, and we want to make sure your day at St. Bonaventure is everything you hope for.

Anointing of the Sick
A priest anointing a patient in hospital

This sacrament brings Christ's comfort and strength to those who are seriously ill, facing surgery, or weakened by age. If you or a loved one would like a priest to visit — at home, in hospital, or in care — please call the parish office; for emergencies, our after-hours line reaches a priest directly.

Funerals

Our parish walks with families through the loss of a loved one, from the funeral Mass through to ongoing bereavement support. Please have your funeral home contact the parish office as soon as possible so we can find a date and support your family through the arrangements.
